Research #1 About Paper and Spaces
TOPIC: How much paper we would save if we wrote without spaces.
AIM: To figure out amount of paper which could be saved if we didn’t use spaces.
MATERIALS:
- A random text of 10 pages with standard formatting (Font=Times New Roman, Font Size=12).
- Microsoft Office Word 2003
- Calculator
ORDER OF THE WORK:
- Find a pretty long text.
- Paste it in MsWord so that it takes 10 pages exactly.
- Count amount of characters in it (including spaces).
- Count amount of characters without spaces.
- Calculate a difference between points #3 and #4.
- Leave the amount figured out in point #5 only and see how much paper the characters take.
- Evaluate the result.
THE PROCESS:
1. -4.
5. 43129-36122=7007 characters
6. This is a visual difference.
7. We lose almost 2 pages when we use spaces. Lets assume we print on both sides, then the ratio is
1:5 (one paper of spaces per 5 sheets of paper (10 pages) of real text.
